UNSW Pauses International Applications for 2025 Intakes
UNSW has joined the University of Sydney in pausing applications for international students applying to study in 2025.
UNSW Sydney has implemented a pause on applications from prospective international students. This pause follows the Australian government's announcement of new limits on the number of international student enrolments earlier this year.
It is currently unclear if UNSW has already reached its limit on new international students for 2025 or if this pause is a temporary measure put in place while the university further evaluates the situation. Regardless of the reason, this pause places prospective international students in a difficult situation, with the lack of information and certainly creating stress and worry about their futures.
The Australian Government has yet to officially pass the amendment to the Education Services for Overseas Students Act that would confirm details on the international student limits. UNSW, along with other universities across the country, is unable to guarantee places for international students who have already received offers of enrollment, leaving the futures of these students uncertain.
The University of Sydney has already ceased taking applications from international students for semester 1 next year, citing that they have already met the number of new international students for many degrees. Other Go8 universities currently continue to accept applications for international students, though some give warnings about the incoming international student limits on their websites.
