Sydney Storm Hits UNSW
Main walkway smashed and light rail partially closed by storm after sweltering hot day, no injuries have been reported.
On Friday, December 27th, storms briefly ripped through Sydney after most of the city spent the day subject to temperatures above 30℃. UNSW’s main walkway saw extensive damage, with trees uprooted and branches ripped from trees. Emergency tape lines the scene, making most of the main walkway inaccessible.
The L2 light rail stopped between Royal Randwick and Randwick stops due to a tree falling on the tracks which has now been cleared. No injuries have been reported on campus, but caution is advised because of the risk caused by tree fall, fallen wires and debris. Those travelling across Sydney have been advised to make extra travel time.
