Diesel Spill triggers evacuation of BABS Building
An unexpected diesel spill resulted in the evacuation of the Ian Jacobs building.
At approximately 10:45 this morning, an evacuation was triggered for the Ian Jacobs Building, formerly known as the Biological Sciences Building, due to a diesel spill. The entirety of the building was evacuated for approximately half an hour while the spill was cleaned up. Neighbouring buildings, including Matthews, the John Clancy Auditorium, and Wallace Wurth, were confirmed to be unaffected by the incident.
Evacuations were conducted by the appointed marshals, who initially informed students and staff that Fire & Rescue would take half an hour to arrive and clean up the spill, however, the cleanup was completed by 11:07, with students and staff being permitted to re-enter.
There are no known injuries.
