Five Noise Editors stepped down last week to run for top SRC positions

Noise Co-founders Diya Sengupta and Pepsi left the publication after nominating themselves for top SRC positions.

Sengupta is running to be SRC President while Pepsi aims to become her Genreal Secretary, after initiating a third-party ticket intending to challenge the ‘major parties’ of the UNSW SRC, currently run by the Labor Party and Socialist Alternative respectively.

Noise Correspondents Alyss Cachia, Ren Woodward and Luke Levett have nominated to replace Pepsi as Queer Officer. Woodward and Cachia are also running for a backbench position in the Councillor B Electorate.

Another Noise Editor, Mia Richter-Weinstein, has also stepped down due to conflicts of interest.

All six individuals have been removed from Noise’s official communication channels and are prohibited from attending Noise meetings for the duration of the election period.

Freddie Brown and 2021-22 Queer Officer Zane Comarmond have been nominated to replace Sengupta and Pepsi as Noise Coordinators.
